It was discussed at the AGM held on the 18th of September 2004 to try and get anyone interested up the BMFA "A" certificate level by late 2005, as the BMFA are encouraging clubs to be more safety orientated. Most model aircraft clubs will not let members fly solo until the have obtained their "A" certificate.

This has never been a requirement for the SMHC and as long as people are aware and responsible for the upkeep of the clubs excellent safety record, there are no plans to make this a requirement here.
